How to Make Homemade Bobbers for Catfish

How to Make Homemade Bobbers for Catfish
It's easy to lose a bobber or two when fishing for catfish. Fortunately, anything buoyant can hold the fishing line steady. If you want to save the few bucks it would cost for new catfish bobbers, make your own. They work just as well as store-made bobbers and are very inexpensive.

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Plastic bottle
  • Foam
  • Screw eye
  • Glue
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
Step 1
Choose a plastic bottle for your bobber. If you're going to be fishing with up to 6 ounces of sinkers, use a 20 ounce soda bottle. If you're going to be using 5 ounces or less, use a 12 ounce pop bottle or 8 to 12 ounce juice bottle.
Step 2
Fill up the bottle with pieces of foam. You can rip up a Styrofoam cup or use foam peanuts.
Step 3
Screw a small eyelet into the top of the cap. Seal it in with a drop of glue. Once the glue dries, screw the cap back on.
Step 4
Paint the bottom half of the bottle a bright color. Fluorescent paint will give you the best visibility, but any brightly colored paint will work.
