Instructions for Coleman Tents
Coleman offers several tent models that vary in size from one-person tents to multi-room tents that can accommodate up to 10 people. The basic instructions for setting up the tents is similar regardless of size. Coleman tents are set up by assembling collapsible poles with shock-corded sections to make the process quick and easy. Coleman tents also include a rain fly, which acts as an additional barrier against rain or other inclement weather.

Step 1
Look for an appropriate area to set up the tent. This area should be free of rocks and away from trees.
Step 2
Unfold the tent, and lay it on the ground. Open the tent door.
Step 3
Use a hammer to stake down the four corners of the tent to secure it in place.
Step 4
Assemble the shock-corded poles by setting each section of the cord into the end of the section before it until you have formed a long, flexible pole. Coleman tents will have two to six poles depending on the size and shape of the tent.
Step 5
Locate the sleeves on the top of the tent. Insert one pole into each sleeve and secure the pole, one end at a time, into the hook or loop located at the bottom of each sleeve. This will cause the tent to stand up and take shape. Continue to insert the poles into the sleeves until the tent has been set up. Some tents will have loops or grommets on the outside of the tent where the poles need to be inserted instead of sleeves.
Step 6
Drape the rain fly over the top of the tent, and make sure that the door of the rain fly lines up with the tent's door. The rain fly will have several hooks or clips attached to it. Once the rain fly is properly lined up, the hooks should easily attach to either the poles, available loops on the tent fabric or clips located on the tent in the same location as the clips on the rain fly.
