Food can rank right up there with the view on a camping trip. When coming back from a long hike or canoe trip around the lake, the first thing on your mind is going to be that evening meal. Having your camp kitchen supplies well-organized will speed up the food preparation process so you can enjoy your dinner and continue relaxing under the stars. Cleanliness is also important for keeping unwanted visitors, such as animals, out of your stash.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Plastic bins with tight-fitting lids
  • Plastic bins with tight-fitting lids
Step 1
Arrange supplies in different bins according to use. Don't jumble everything in one large box. Use separate bins to store cookware, food and heating materials. Keeping your kitchen supplies clean and orderly will save time when you are ready to prepare your meals.
Step 2
Keep all food items in airtight storage containers or Ziploc plastic bags. This will help keep bugs and vermin out of your food.
Step 3
Place all food, including canned and dry items, out of the sun and in a cool, dry location. Your ice cooler can be wrapped with a blanket or sleeping bag to help insulate and preserve ice.
Step 4
Wash all utensils, pots and pans immediately after use and dry them before storing. The cleanliness of your cookware will keep your kitchen safe and ready to go when it comes time to create your next meal. It also will prevent insects and animals from being attracted to your camp.
