How to Wax Skis With Swix

Any skier should know how to wax his skis. It is an important part of ski maintenance that not only extends the life and durability of the skis but also improves the quality and speed of your skiing. You should apply wax at least once a year, prior to the start of ski season, but avid skiers should apply wax regularly

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:
  • Swix wax Wet rag Wax scraper Waxing iron Fiber brush Fiber cloth
  • Swix wax
  • Wet rag
  • Wax scraper
  • Waxing iron
  • Fiber brush
  • Fiber cloth
Step 1
Bring ski indoors and allow to warm to room temperature.
Step 2
Clean the bottom of the ski off with a wet rag to remove sediments.
Step 3
Melt the wax onto the ski and spread evenly across surface using a ski iron. You can use a traditional iron, but these run the risk of burning or warping your skis.
Step 4
Use a plastic scraper held at a 45-degree angle to remove excess wax. Do this while the wax is still warm.
Step 5
Reapply wax and scrape away at least once more.
Step 6
Brush surface with a fiber brush to clean it and polish ski with a fiber cloth.
