How to Wash North Face Jackets
North Face is a well-known brand that offers cold and snowy weather clothing for the winter sports enthusiast. The clothing is not is cheap and to get the most use out of the products, it is important to take good care of the winter wear. North Face's GORE-TEX® jackets are easy to wash, but their popular down jackets need to be taken in for professional servicing.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

GORE-TEX® Jackets

Things You’ll Need:
  • Washing machine
  • Mild powder detergent
  • Clothes drier
Step 1
Close all zippers, buttons and fasteners on the jacket. Put it in the washing machine.
Step 2
Pour a mild powder detergent into the machine or the dispenser, depending on your washing machine's design. Follow the directions on the detergent to determine the correct amount to use for your load size. Do not use liquid detergents because they can leave a residue.
Step 3
Run the jacket through a gentle, cold water wash cycle.
Step 4
Start the machine over at the rinse part of the cycle to give the jacket a second rinsing and ensure that all the detergent has been removed.
Step 5
Put the jacket in the clothes drier using either a low heat setting or the plain air setting.

Tips & Warnings

 
Do not use bleach or fabric softeners, dry clean, or store GORE-TEX® jackets when wet.
 
Down jackets made by North Face require specialized cleaning, which is not available at all dry cleaners. Be sure to ask if they can handle down items before giving them your jacket.
