How to Store Bungee Cords

How to Store Bungee Cords
Bungee cord storage is a significant problem when too many of them are kept together. Bungee cords will quickly tangle and stick together, causing problems when storing and removing them for usage. In order to remedy this problem, you should store bungee cords in such a way as to prevent tangling and mixing of different lengths and sizes. By spending a few minutes to create a suitable way to store bungee cords, using them will be significantly easier.

Storing Bungee Cords

Things You’ll Need:
  • Coat rack or similar rack Hammer or screwdriver Nails or screws Velcro straps (optional)
  • Coat rack or similar rack
  • Hammer or screwdriver
  • Nails or screws
  • Velcro straps (optional)
Step 1
Select a coat rack or similar rack that can be hung on either a wall or placed on the inside of a tool cabinet. Ideally it should have five different hangers.
Step 2
Mount the rack using your choice of mounting fixtures. Ensure that the rack is securely fastened to keep it from pulling out of the wall, cabinet or similar mountable surface.
Step 3
Sort through the bungee cords and separate them by size. Untangle them as you go and lay them neatly in piles.
Step 4
Assign each size of bungee cord a hook on the rack and hang them on it. Make sure the bungees remain untangled as you hang them.
Step 5
Tie a Velcro strap around each group of bungees if desired. This will keep them in place and prevent tangling.

Tips & Warnings

You can hang the bungees with the hooks facing alternate directions on the rack to further prevent tangling.

Never stretch a bungee for storage. This can wear them out more quickly and cause injury.
