Catfish Stew Recipe

Even if you are camping outdoors, you can still make stew out of your freshly caught catfish. It will be filling and warm you up on a cool evening. Making catfish stew isn't that hard and you only need a few basic ingredients to do it. Best of all, it won't take that long to prepare and cook. This recipe makes five ample servings.

Things You'll Need:
  • Cleaned catfish Cutting board Celery Onions Potatoes Butter Milk Salt Pepper Garlic Large pot Spoon Camping stove

  • Potatoes
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic
  • Large pot
  • Spoon
  • Camping stove
Step 1
Cut two stalks of celery, one medium-sized onion and two large potatoes into small pieces. Place them into the pot.
Step 2
Light the camping stove and place the pot onto the burner.
Step 3
Add three tablespoons of butter to your chopped vegetables and sauté on medium until the vegetables begin to soften but are still slightly crisp.
Step 4
Pour five cups of milk into the pot of vegetables and continue heating on medium heat.
Step 5
Add spices such as pepper, salt and garlic to the stew to suit your taste.
Step 6
Chop three to four small fillets of fish into bite-size pieces and add to the stew mixture. Continue to stir the stew.
Step 7
Cook the stew for 10 minutes until the catfish is done and all the flavors blend together. Serve the stew hot.

Tips & Warnings

 
You can also add clams, shrimp, crab or any other type of fish to the stew.
 
Refrigerate any leftover stew so it does not spoil.
