For more than a century, Eureka has developed and produced quality camping tents from its headquarters in Binghamton, New York. The Mountain Breeze two-person tent features dual entries and just over 12 square feet of room. You can readily repair a tear in its rain fly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Scissors
  • Rip-stop repair tape
  • Seam sealer
Step 1
Place the Eureka Mountain Breeze rain fly on a smooth work surface. Avoid laying the rain fly on a rough or abrasive surface such as gravel as this can potentially cause further damage.
Step 2
Cut a piece of rip repair tape that will cover and overlap the tear in the rain fly by a half-inch. Hold it up to the tear and continue making small adjustments to the size and shape of the tape until you are satisfied with the fit.
Step 3
Cut damaged and frayed threads without enlarging the tear .
Step 4
Pull the tear in the rain fly together. Place the sticky side of the rip stop tape against the rain fly so it covers the tear and overlaps onto the undamaged edges of the rain fly. Turn the rain fly over and apply a second piece of rip stop tape over the damage so that both sides of the tear are covered.
Step 5
Spread a thin coat of sealant at least a half-inch wide on the rip stop tape and its edges with the included applicator brush or a small hobby brush. Allow the sealant to cure as directed by the manufacturer, typically for several hours. Flip the rain fly over and repeat the sealant application on the opposite side.

Tips & Warnings

Allow the sealant on both sides to completely cure at least overnight before using.
