The Berkley Nibbler is a telescoping fishing rod designed specifically with the younger angler in mind. Featuring a two-section, 28-inch rod, the Nibbbler is equipped with a closed-face spincast reel for ease of use. The initial assembly and setup of the Berkley Nibbler is easy and requires only a short amount of time, so youngsters can spend more time fishing than waiting for the setup of gear and tackle.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Monofilament fishing line
  • Fish hook
  • Float
  • Weight
Step 1
Remove any packaging from the manufacturer designed to keep the tackle box that is attached to the rod from coming loose and being separated. Remove the tackle box from the rod and set it aside.
Step 2
Pull the extending rod sections straight out and slightly twist them to secure the sections together and align the line guides.
Step 3
Hold the free end of the line that is extending from the spool through the small hole in the center of the spool cover. Press the spool-release button on the top rear of the spool to release the line.
Step 4
Pull the line through each line guide and out the tip of the rod. Continue pulling line so you have 2 to 3 feet extending past the tip of the rod. Turn the handle to engage the spool and prevent more line from spooling off the reel.
Step 5
Attach a bait-holder hook to the end of the line with a Palomar knot. Place a crimp-on weight on the line 8 to 10 inches above the hook. Attach a clip-on float to the line at a point that will allow the desired length of line to extend into the water.

Tips & Warnings

Use a variety of baits on the hook such as corn, dough balls, salmon eggs, worms or artificial soft plastic baits.
