Trailer Awning Instructions

The summer sun can shine down hard, especially along a back country tract of terrain where trees may not be available to provide shading. Regardless of where your trailer is parked, obtain the shading you need with an awning. Trailer awnings also shelter equipment and gear as well as bicycles when additional storage space is needed at a campsite. They can span the length of your trailer, and window awnings are also an option; choose custom colors and fabrics to complete the look.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Roll-Out Instructions

Step 1
Twist the rafter knobs, which are located on both awning support arms, in a counterclockwise direction by hand to loosen.
Step 2
Unfasten the travel locks, which are also located on both awning arms, to begin the roll-out process.
Step 3
Change the ratchet mechanism to the "Out" position.
Step 4
Discharge the pull strap by pulling it down with the awning rod. "Walk" the awning out with the rod.
Step 5
Secure the rafter knobs on both rafters by turning each knob back to tighten.
Step 6
Slide the awning arms upward to bring the awning to the height you desire.

Retraction Instructions

Step 1
Slide the awning arms down, into the rest position.
Step 2
Unscrew the rafter knobs by hand and undo the rafter latches, both of which are located on the back of the awning arms.
Step 3
Skate the rafters down to the rest position using the awning strap. Maintain a strong and steady hold of the awning as you complete this step.
Step 4
Change the ratchet mechanism to the "In" position.
Step 5
Wind the awning and push the travel locks down to secure it.

Tips & Warnings

Let your trailer awning dry completely before rolling up.
