Bike carriers were invented so people can have an easy way to haul gear around without it interfering with the ability to maneuver the bike. A bike rack will allow you to pedal to work or the grocery store carrying everything you need while not smashing the eggs or getting grease on your work pants. Installing a Sunlite Rear Bicycle Carrier can be done at home with the supplies that come with the rack and some simple tools.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Bike
  • Bike carrier and hardware
  • Allen keys
Step 1
Find the lower threaded eyes on your bike's rear tire and line up the bottom mount on your carrier with those eyes.
Step 2
Tighten down the mount bolts with your Allen key on both sides of your bike wheel through the mount.
Step 3
Find the threaded eye on your bike's frame located behind your seat. Line the upper mount of the carrier with the eye on your bike frame.
Step 4
Tighten down the bolts on your bike frame through the mount and eyes.
Step 5
Take the carrier rods and adjust them to the proper length to level out your carrier so it sits flat. The rods will run from the top mount to the carrier.
Step 6
Keep your rods in place by screwing down the top of the carrier by tightening the bolts with your Allen key.
Step 7
Give the carrier a quick look over, making sure it is level and all the bolts are tightened down.
