Eureka is an outdoor gear company that has been manufacturing camping tents for backcountry and backyard camping for over 100 years. Campers can choose from a variety of camping tents including family size tents, canvas tents and copper canyon tents. While Eureka offers a product warranty for all its camping tents, you may be able to make basic repairs to your zipper without having to send it in for repair.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Replace a broken pull tab, which is the lever used to open and close the zipper on your Eureka tent. Using a pair of pliers, bend back the metal arch, which is the carriage that holds the pull tab in place. Bend it back until you have a space large enough for the broken pull tab to pass through. Insert a new pull tab by hooking it to the metal arch. Press the metal arch back down using the pliers.
Step 2
Reshape flattened coils, which are the fasteners that join the fabric on your Eureka tent. Use a sewing needle or other tool with a pointed tip underneath each flattened coil. Pull each coil back into line with the others.
Step 3
Reposition a damaged zipper slider, which is the part of the zipper that slides along the coils. Using a pair of pliers, move the zipper slider back to the top of the zipper. Grip the bottom corners of the zipper using the pliers and carefully slide the zipper down to the bottom. Repeat several times until the slider can slide on its own using only the pull tab.
Step 4
Remove a material jam by slowly pulling it from the zipper by hand. Rock the material back and forth as necessary, but do not yank it out.

Tips & Warnings

Proper storage of your Eureka Tent may prevent damage to the zipper.

Never use pliers to remove material from a zipper. Doing so could damage the zipper or cause the material to tear.
