Denver Tent Instructions

The Denver Tent Company has been manufacturing tents for sportsmen since 1890. Their most popular model, the Colorado Wall Tent, is a favorite base camp tent among hunters and fishermen. Designed to last for decades, many of these tents have been handed down from one generation to the next, and often assembly instructions are lost in transit. Although the tents are large, ranging in size from 9-feet-by-9-feet to 16-feet-by-24-feet, they are a simple box frame construction and two people can assemble them.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:
  • Colorado Wall Tent
  • Rubber mallet
  • Tape Measure
Step 1
Lay your Denver Tent Company Colorado Wall Tent on a flat surface. Turn the tent so that the door opening is on the appropriate side. Loop the small ropes provided with your tent through the grommets located at the base of your tent. Use the stakes provided to secure the two front corners of your Colorado Wall Tent with a rubber mallet, pulling them forward so that they are snug.
Step 2
Stake down the remaining two corners of your tent with a rubber mallet, and use a tape measure to ensure that all four corners of your tent are staked out at 90-degree angles. There should be an equal distance from each corner-to-corner measurement. Tie the long ropes provided with your tent to the grommets outside the eaves. Secure the metal rope adjuster to the other end.
Step 3
Stake the eave ropes out 5 feet back from the tent walls with a rubber mallet. Pull the corner stakes back an additional 18 inches from the corner to fully secure the tent. Slide the side poles in the inner eave grommet and adjust the side pole height until they match the wall height.
Step 4
Walk inside the tent and assemble the ridge pole. Slide the uprights into the opening in the ridge pole and the tent peak grommets. Move the upright so that it is parallel to the tent wall. Assemble the tent pole while lifting the tent peak and slide it into place.
Step 5
Tighten the wall ropes to ensure that the walls stand straight and are secure.

Tips & Warnings

Check your ropes every few days, as the ropes can settle and stretch and may need to be tightened to keep the walls straight and secure.

Always make sure that your tent is 100 percent dry before storing it or you will have a mildewed tent the next time you unpack it.
