How to Buy Minnows for Bait Fishing in Britain

You can fish with live bait, such as minnows, in Britain if you choose, depending on the species you are fishing for and the region in which you want to fish. Anglers can find minnows at many fishing gear and bait/tackle shops throughout the country.

Computer with Internet access
Local British newspapers or fishing magazines
Paper and pencil or pen

Step 1

Conduct an Internet search to find bait shops in Britain and the town or city you will want to buy bait. Call those shops and find out if they supply minnows. Write down the addresses of those shops.

Step 2

Visit your chosen bait and tackle shop and ask for minnows as well as secure packaging. Purchase the bait, but remember you might have to pay cash because some shops in out-of-the-way places don't take credit cards.

Step 3

Ask the staff or fishing pro at the bait shop about local rules and regulations for fishing. You can buy any necessary permits or licenses if the store acts as a broker, or the store will refer you to a certified broker.
