How to Erect an Ozark Trail Two Room Dome Tent

The Ozark Trail 2 Room Dome Tent is large and affordable by most campers. The tents are not the highest quality but are often purchased by recreational summer campers. The tents do not require any tools for assembly, and they can be assembled by a single person, although it is much easier with several people. Assembly is not complicated, but it does require all parts to be assembled in the proper order. The large frame can be manipulated by a single person but it is more stable with an extra set of hands.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:
  • Tent
  • Stakes
  • Poles
  • Rain fly
  • Hammer
Step 1
Remove the tent and all of the parts from the package. Unroll the tent and separate the rain fly, poles, stakes and tent fabric.
Step 2
Select the tent site and lay the main tent body on the ground with the floor facing down. Locate the stake slots and stake the tent to the ground. Begin with one corner and pull each of the following corners tight to form the tent floor.
Step 3
Assemble the tent poles by connecting the male and female ends. Place the end of one of the long poles in a corner grommet. Slide the pole through the diagonal sleeves and place the other end in the grommet located on the diagonal corner. This will bend the pole and begin forming the frame. Place the second long pole in a corner grommet and slide it diagonally through the sleeves. Place the end in the open grommet to create a diagonal cross with the two poles.
Step 4
Place one of the two smaller poles in the grommet located in the front of the door. Slide the pole through the sleeve on the side of the tent and connect it to the grommet on the back of the tent. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the tent. Connect the hooks to diagonal tent poles to finish forming the tent body.
Step 5
Drape the rain fly over the tent and arrange it so the peak is over the tent door. Connect all four of the rain fly straps to the matching tent pole by inserting the end of the pole in the grommet. The straps are adjustable and you can begin with them loose and tighten after the connection is made. Insert the small door pole in the slots located on the inside of the fly. This will create a tight pitch above the door. Pull the strap on the back of the fly tight and either pound a stake through it or tie it to a tree.

Tips & Warnings

Take your time when erecting the tent and be sure you have the correct poles. Also be sure to slide the poles through the corresponding sleeves to make the shelter sturdy. Place the tent on a soft, flat area for maximum comfort.

Use caution when bending the poles. If you lose your grip the poles can snap and hit your body. Wear sunglasses to prevent the poles from hitting your eyes.
