How to Find the Cheapest Hotels

How to Find the Cheapest Hotels
Hotel prices can fluctuate dramatically depending on the time of year and number of guests already booked. Because of this, you may want to take advantage of cheaper rates on rooms that are normally an additional charge. Although some online websites do this for you, most hotel chains offer their own deals and rates that are often not released to travel websites. By looking for a few minutes online, you can save a significant amount of money and get a cheaper rate than by booking over the phone or on a travel website.

Difficulty: Easy

Finding the Cheapest Hotels

Things You’ll Need:
  • Computer
Step 1
Select the hotel or group of hotels where you would consider staying.
Step 2
Locate the hotels' websites. Make sure that the hotel's website is specifically for your hotel's location. In some cases, such as hotel chains, you can use a search feature that can search multiple locations at once.
Step 3
Choose the dates of your reservation. If your length of stay is unknown, set the date out for a longer period of time than you believe is needed in order to get the hotel for the required stay period.
Step 4
View the available hotel rooms and their rates. You will be able to see a range of prices according to the date of your stay and which room you choose. You should also see other hotels in the area if the website is owned by a chain so you can select the cheapest hotel.
Step 5
Find the lowest rate on your desired room or hotel by searching through the various ranges. Some hotels will also offer packages for longer stays, include meals, and a rental car that are often cheaper than getting the services separately.

Tips & Warnings

If you use a hotel often, getting a frequent traveler card can also reduce the cost of your room.

You can also search a chamber of commerce and sports sites for cheap hotel options.
