Bicycling is an adventurous sport that entails exploring new terrains. At some point, you may want to transport your bike using the car to arrive at new areas--or maybe just the shop for maintenance. The Rhode Gear bike rack can be mounted on vehicles to transport bicycles easier.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Release the levers to move the upper and lower frames by unscrewing the yellow adjustment knob.
Step 2
Hold the carrier up against the rear of your car to adjust the frames to fit your vehicle. The lower frame should rest on the license plate. Close the yellow lever/adjustment knob in place.
Step 3
Attach the upper hooks to the leading edge of the hatch or trunk and then attach the lower hooks with the short nylon straps on the bottom edge of the trunk or hatch.
Step 4
Position the side hooks to the side of the trunk or hatch lid.
Step 5
Use both hands to tighten all the straps, including the side, lower and upper straps.
Step 6
Open one hub lever at a time to adjust the carrier arms so that it is slightly higher than horizontal. Make sure the rack is secure and stable.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure that all straps are far away from the vehicle exhaust.

Make sure that none of the straps are rubbing on any sharp metal edges.
