Instructions for a Bell Bike Rack

The safest and most convenient way to transport a bicycle is to use a bike rack. The Bell bike rack is easy to install and offers security straps that hold it in place when traveling over any type of terrain. Because the rack attaches at the lip and bottom edge of your trunk lid, you can be sure the rack is secure. Mount your bicycle and remove it easily once you arrive at your destination.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Position the Bell bike rack so the two tubes with black foam pads are on the bottom. Pull the tubes apart until the Bell bike rack is fully extended.
Step 2
Hold the bike rack arm with the shortest length to the trunk of your car. This is the rear arm.
Step 3
Hold the front arm against the bumper of your car. Face the bike holders upward and away from your car.
Step 4
Open your trunk and insert the two rear bike straps between the trunk lid and the frame of your car. Use the two clips on the end of each strap to secure the straps in place.
Step 5
Fasten the last two straps by hooking the two clips on the end of each strap to the bottom of your trunk lid.
Step 6
Close the trunk over the straps, then pull until the Bell bike rack is tight, upright and parallel to the ground.

Tips & Warnings

Check the straps of the bike rack regularly for slack. Tighten as necessary.

If you have a lift-back window (minivan), mount the front and rear arms to the window.
