Pop Up Camper Awning Instructions

Pop Up Camper Awning Instructions
Pop up camper awnings provide protection from the sun, rain and wind. Sit with a friend under the cool shade of the awning or store equipment and gear for added storage space. An easy way to transform a camping site, you can set up your camper awning anytime you need additional space. The process only requires a few moderately easy steps and can be done in just a few minutes. Because you have to handle relatively heavy parts, you may want to have a friend assist you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Set-Up Instructions

Step 1
Locate the travel locks, which can be found midway up on both main awning arms. Switch the locking mechanism to the "roll out" position. Use the awning rod to release the roller tube.
Step 2
Locate the end of the awning strap, which is on the middle of the roller tube. Lower the awning strap until the awning roller tube releases and is loose on both ends. Pull down on the main awning arm until it feels tight and contains little slack.
Step 3
Tighten the rafter knobs, located on the inner support arms.
Step 4
Adjust the main arm to the desired height. Push the lever as you lift and then lock the main arm into place.

Retraction Instructions

Step 1
Hold the front of the main awning arm and the lever on the side of the arm as you lower the awning. Maintain control of the awning as you lower it into the rest position.
Step 2
Pull the release latch to loosen the knob on the front of the main arm. Lower the support arm down the main arm until the rafters are down to the rest position.
Step 3
Maintain control of the awning using the awning strap. Switch the ratchet mechanism to the roll-up position. Release the locking lever.
Step 4
Loosen your grip on the awning strap. Hook the awning rod into the loop of the strap. Allow the awning to fully retract.
Step 5
Secure the travel locks.

Tips & Warnings

Have a friend assist you to avoid knocking the awning against your camper during the set-up process.

Take caution when using a pop up camper awning in heavy rains and winds.
