The Wanderfreund by Leki is sold as a single unit and is designed for day hiking, back-country packing and daily walking. Small when collapsed and lightweight, the Wanderfreund is feature-packed and well-built. The unusual handle, referred to as the MultiMed grip, has a cork cover that allows you to assume various grips and hand positions to help reduce fatigue when using the pole. One popular feature of the Wanderfreund is the easy-to-adjust and reliable Super Lock System. In only a few simple steps, your Wunderfreund pole can be properly adjusted to fit your height.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Leki Wanderfreund pole
Step 1
Examine your Leki Wunderfreund pole and take note of the three progressively smaller sections that fit into each other: an upper section near the handle, a middle section and a lower section with the carbide tip attached. The lower two sections turn clockwise and counterclockwise to allow for tightening and loosening.
Step 2
Turn both the bottom and the center section of your Wunderfreund trekking pole to loosen.
Step 3
Hold your pole by the lower section, and place the grip on the ground directly to your side. Stand so that you are straight but relaxed and not stiff.
Step 4
Pull the middle and the lower section, which you are holding, up until the tip of your Wunderfreund is touching your wrist just above your hand. Adjust the middle and lower sections so that they are equal in length and tighten the sections by turning to the right.
Step 5
Turn your Wunderfreund over, and place the palm of your hand on the horizontal grip of the pole. Your arm should be straight, relaxed and slightly bent for a proper fit. If not, make any adjustments to lengthen or shorten the pole, and recheck.

Tips & Warnings

Securely tighten the sections of your pole before use to avoid potential injury.
