How to Find Cheap Flights to Australia

How to Find Cheap Flights to Australia
Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere and offers a range of climates and landscapes. It is a mecca of outdoor activity for an adventurer of any experience level, whether you prefer skin diving on the Great Barrier Reef or backpacking through remote stretches of the outback. The seasonal climates fluctuate wildly, and it can be extremely hot with high humidity in the outback during the Australian summer. Wintertime in Australia (June through August) is milder, ranging from 60 to 80 F, depending on your location. The Australian winter is a great time to book a cheap flight to the continent.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Ask a travel agent about adventure packages for touring, skin diving or outback exploration. These package deals typically include a lower flight fare, or you could find all-inclusive packages that greatly reduce your flight rate to the land Down Under.
Step 2
Check online sources such as Kayak.com or Mobissimo.com for cheap flights to Australia. These sites provide links to lesser-known flight services that are considerably cheaper than major carriers and are tailored toward adventure trips suited for outdoor enthusiasts.
Step 3
Consult flight carriers that operate out of Hawaii and make regular flights to Australia, such as JetStar. These carriers are closer to the Australian continent and are much cheaper than those leaving from the U.S. mainland. It may be less expensive to purchase a flight to Hawaii and another from Hawaii to Australia separately.
Step 4
Plan your trip during a quieter part of the Australian tourist season. The winter months in Australia--summer in the Northern Hemisphere--are the cheapest times to travel to the continent, though they are not nearly as enjoyable as the summer season. This is a great time to do some whale watching along the Australian coast as well.

Tips & Warnings

Use frequent flyer miles, or free flights, to get to Australia. This is the cheapest way possible if you have this option available to you. If you are a student, you may be able to qualify for a cheaper fare. A travel agent or website may require proof of enrollment at a college or university to sell you such a ticket.
