For a child, there is nothing quite as magical as visiting Walt Disney World and meeting the characters from their favorite movies. But for parents, a trip to Disney World can be an unprecedented expense. Between the hotel room, admission tickets, food and souvenirs, you might think this will be the last vacation for a long, long time. But thankfully, there are a few tricks that can help you save a lot of money and ensure that you will be able to afford to take another vacation in the near future.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Snacks and water bottles
Step 1
Use websites like Hotel-Rates.com and USATourist.com to search for the cheapest hotel in walking distance of Walt Disney World or that offers complimentary shuttle service to the theme park. This is a cheaper alternative to staying in a Disney-owned hotel.
Step 2
Save money by purchasing admission tickets in advance, or by taking advantage of special promotions like the "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" option.
Step 3
Avoid the shops that sell overpriced toys and trinkets. This eliminates the temptation to make unnecessary purchases and also saves you from having to keep track of shopping bags as you walk around the park.
Step 4
Avoid purchasing numerous meals and snacks within the gates of Disney World. Eat breakfast before you enter the park, stuff a backpack full of bottled water along with hearty snacks such granola bars and peanut butter sandwiches, and plan to eat dinner after you leave the park.
Step 5
Take the kids to the playgrounds at Disney MGM and Animal Kingdom when they start begging for expensive treats like funnel cake and action figures, suggests Deb from Maryland on the MommySavers website.
