How to Become Your Own Travel Agent

How to Become Your Own Travel Agent
If you want to book your own vacation and travel accommodations but no longer want to go through an expensive travel agent, you can easily become your own agent and book your own flights and hotel rooms. With a simple Internet connection, you can find everything a seasoned travel agent can find for you, and typically you pay less because you don't pay agency fees.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Visit any flight and hotel booking online site such as Travelocity, Expedia and Priceline. Here you can find most of the same flights and prices a travel agent can secure.
Step 2
Look up the airline company's website. Here you can purchase tickets directly from the airline. Depending on the flight, you might secure tickets cheaper than on the travel site.
Step 3
Check hotel prices at the travel site again. You can find prices for different hotels, along with information about the hotel--including a phone number.
Step 4
Call the hotel regarding the price you saw online, and see if it can beat the price. Often the company might lower it because it receives the full booking value. When the hotel uses a travel site, it usually pays a fee for the service.
