How to Make a Hotel Reservation

How to Make a Hotel Reservation
You planned the perfect vacation and it's time to start looking for a hotel and make the reservations. You want to be sure you find the perfect room at the right price. The Internet offers so many choices of finding and reserving a hotel, you no longer have to reserve just through the hotel itself. Of course, you still have that option, but there may be additional discounts waiting for you to take advantage of by reserving online. Either way, reserve your hotel and enjoy your vacation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Online

Step 1
Go to your favorite travel website. Two well-known ones age Orbitz and Travelocity. Choose one that you feel most comfortable with and the one you feel like you are getting the best deal from. You also have the option of going to the hotel's website.
Step 2
Use the website's search tool. Type in the range of dates you will be staying, how many people will be there and the location.
Step 3
Browse the options. Your search will result in many nearby hotels. Narrow your search by price, star ratings and amenities. Also, double-check the distance between the hotel and your desired location; you don't want to be too far from it.
Step 4
Open pages to the interesting hotels and check rates for different rooms and view pictures.
Step 5
Select a hotel. When you're ready, select "Checkout," "Purchase" or any variation of these. Review the prices and agreements. You will be required to enter billing information (hotels do not bill you until you leave, but the information is still needed) and some personal information.

Phone

Step 1
Go to the hotel's website or call "411" to get the hotel's phone number. You should already know which specific hotel you want to stay in and where you want to stay.
Step 2
Ask for the front desk. These are the customer service representatives who will help you make the reservation.
Step 3
Inform the representative that you want to make a reservation. Let him know the dates you plan on staying. He will inform you of whether rooms are available during those dates and the rates of different rooms.
Step 4
Set the dates. Confirm the dates with the representative if the rooms you want are available, or compromise on the days. You will need to provide the representative with some personal information to hold your room. You may also be required to provide credit card information.
