How to Get a Tourist Visa to China

How to Get a Tourist Visa to China
Traveling to China requires a visa, in addition to a passport. When planning a trip to China, allow yourself two months if possible to get a tourist visa. If this is not possible, you may still be able to get a visa in as little as one day, through a visa company that may charge extra. Also note that you will have to provide your passport in order for your visa to be processed.

Step 2
Complete the application, specifying if your visa request is for single, dual or multiple entry.
Step 3
Attach a visa-size photo that is 2 inches wide by 2 inches high to the application. The picture may be color or black-and-white.
Step 4
Make a photocopy of your passport's information page, which should show that the passport is valid for at least six months.
Step 5
Review the embassy's provisions for specific applicants (e.g. former Chinese citizens, Chinese-American children born in the U.S.) to see if further documentation is needed to complete your application.
Step 6
Gather all application materials, including your passport and the photocopy of your passport's information page.
Step 7
Submit your application to the nearest embassy or consulate general of the People's Republic of China. See http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/t84229.htm for information on which embassy or consulate general services your location. You may use a visa service company or have someone else deliver the application if you cannot take the application in yourself. Applications are not accepted by mail.
