How to Clean North Face Hydration Packs

How to Clean North Face Hydration Packs
North Face Hydration Packs contain naglene hydration bladders or reservoirs. The naglene does not impart a plastic flavor to your beverages. The naglene reservoir, along with the drink tube, sheath and bite valve require cleaning after each use to remove germs and bacteria. It only takes a few minutes to clean your North Face Hydration Pack.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
Step 1
Fill the reservoir with 1 cup of water and 1 tsp. of baking soda. Shake the reservoir for one minute so that the baking soda and water mixture touches all of the internal areas of the reservoir. Empty the reservoir.
Step 2
Fill the reservoir with 1 cup of water and 1 tsp. of lemon juice. Shake the reservoir for one minute so that the lemon juice and water mixture touches all of the internal areas of the reservoir. Empty the reservoir.
Step 3
Allow the reservoir to sit in the open position until it completely dries.
Step 4
Remove the drink tube from the hydration pack. Pull the bite valve off the drink tube. Separate the sheath from the bite valve. Put the sheath and bite valve in the open position. The manufacturer of North Face Hydration Packs recommends soaking the drink tube, bite valve and sheath in a "diluted bleach solution" for 15 minutes. An environmentally friendly alternative is to soak the parts in white vinegar for 15 minutes.
Step 5
Rinse the drink tube, bite valve and sheath thoroughly in clean water. Set the parts out to dry, then reassemble the hydration pack.
