How to Rent a Rock Climbing Wall

How to Rent a Rock Climbing Wall
Hiring a mobile rock climbing wall for the day is a fun and adventurous way to entertain friends and family. A group of four rock climbers can easily climb a 24-foot high rock climbing wall with enough hand and foot holds to accommodate each climber. Although there are some limitation to where a rock wall can be set up, they are appropriate for most parks, driveways and yards. For a large party, you can rent multiple rock walls to accommodate everyone in your party.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Rock climbing wall
  • Mats
  • Barriers
  • Lights (optional for nighttime use only)
Step 1
Decide who will use the wall. If children will use the wall, accessories such as bungee jump stations might be necessary. If adults will use the wall, height and level of difficulty are important to know.
Step 2
Inquire about the climbing wall's features. How high is it? Is it equipped with separate climbing stations? If so, how many stations? What are the varying levels of difficulty of each station? Not all climbing walls are the same, so be sure to ask the width and dimension of the wall as well.
Step 3
Prepare the area where you will set up the climbing wall. Choose a surface that is primarily flat, and verify that there is sufficient space. The rental company will tell you the minimum space required for set-up.
Step 4
Choose a rental company, and ask about the rental deposit. Most rock climbing wall rental companies require a credit card deposit. The deposit might be several hundred dollars to cover the cost of any damage to the wall and equipment.
Step 5
Ask about rental time-frame options. Although some rock climbing wall rental companies require a minimum two hour rental, others offer one hour rentals. Ask about weekend and weekday availability to compare prices.

Tips & Warnings

Check the weather report before planning a day of rock climbing.

Have a short training session with small children to avoid injury when hosting a rock climbing party for kids.
