Choosing a Woman's Warm Winter Coat

Choosing a Woman's Warm Winter Coat
A warm winter coat will keep you comfortable in cold weather and should serve a dual purpose. The coat should be stylish and should be comfortable without being baggy and oversized. When choosing the coat, consider the construction materials and the situation in which it will be worn. If it will be worn outside for an extended period of time, a wind-stopper lining will increase the value of the coat. It should have ample insulation and be snug around the waist and cuffs to prevent cold air from contacting your body. Coats can be purchased for everyday outdoor activities or special occasion style.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Everyday

Step 1
Choose a coat with a wind-stopper shell, fleece lining and a heavy down filling for insulation. In wet environments, substitute a Gore-Tex shell for a wind-stopper shell.
Step 2
Choose a brand name coat from a company with good customer service.
Step 3
Choose a coat with a removable hood or fur neck-liner for wear in extreme cold.

Style

Step 1
Choose a coat with high insulation value in a slim design. Avoid the puffy coats.
Step 2
Choose a coat with dark or neutral colors to match with different outfits.
Step 3
Choose a coat that is washable with a soft interior lining.
Step 4
Choose a coat that stops above the knees for a tall look.

Tips & Warnings

For everyday wear, Gore-Tex is a great material. It will make your coat waterproof and will increase its durability.

Stylish coats should be washable as you will encounter mud in wet, winter environments.
