How to Attach Goggles to a Swimsuit

How to Attach Goggles to a Swimsuit
Goggles are essential to swimming, Not only do they help you see what's below you in the water, they also protect your eyes from the salt of salt water, chlorine in swimming pools and bacteria from lakes and ponds. Many people, especially children, can misplace or forget to bring their goggles on vacation or to the pool. Instead of going out to purchase a new pair of goggles, you can attach them to the swimsuit by using some simple items. This way, when the goggles are not being used, you'll always know where they are.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Heavy fabric Sew-on snaps Fabric measuring tape Fabric scissors Needle and thread Chalk Goggles
  • Heavy fabric
  • Sew-on snaps
  • Fabric measuring tape
  • Fabric scissors
  • Needle and thread
  • Chalk
  • Goggles
Step 1
Purchase the heavy fabric as well as the sew-on snaps from any fabric store. Purchase the fabric in the same color as the bathing suit (you can even buy bathing suit material if you wish).
Step 2
Place the measuring tape onto the fabric and measure four inches across. Mark the length. Then measure one inch down. This is the height.
Step 3
Cut the fabric where it is marked so you have a strip of fabric four inches long and one inch in height.
Step 4
Draw a line at the very center of the fabric.
Step 5
Thread your needle with thread that's the same color as the fabric. Then, sew the ball of the snap to the fabric strip. Sew the snap 1/8 inch from the end of the strip. Use tacking stitches to attach the snap to the strip of fabric.
Step 6
Rub white chalk onto the ball of the snap. Fold the fabric over so the ends meet perfectly. When you lift up the fabric, the chalk will mark the exact point for the socket snap.
Step 7
Repeat step 5 to sew on the socket snap. Once the socket snap is sewn on, snap the fabric together to ensure it works and the fabric is even.
Step 8
Choose a place on the bathing suit for the goggle holder. It works best under one arm pit or on the back of the swimsuit.
Step 9
Keeping the fabric "open" place it on the swimsuit. Again, thread your needle and thread and sew in a stitch at the middle mark of the fabric strip. Sew a sturdy stitch to ensure the fabric won't tear off.
Step 10
Place the goggles through one end of the fabric strip, then snap the strip shut. The goggles will be safely attached to the swimsuit.
