  • Garmin Nuvi 260
  • Serial number

Step 1
Locate your serial number (found near the power connector) and unit ID number. To find the ID number you will need to go into the tools section and choose about, which will then give you the option to see the ID number.
Step 2
To determine which map versions you are working with, go to the tools page, click on settings, then choose maps and finally map info and you will see the current versions of the maps you are using.
Step 3
Visit the Garmin website and check to see if new versions of the map are available for your unit. If new versions are available, you will be able to purchase and download them.

Tips & Warnings

You must have the Garmin Communicator Plugin installed to complete your upgrade. It can be downloaded from the website. To upgrade a memory card instead of the internal memory, choose to save the downloaded file to the memory card drive instead of the defaut internal memory drive.
