Instructions for Connecting an Adapter to Run 2 Air Conditioners on a RV
If you've chosen RV camping over sleeping under the stars, you already know all of the benefits. Freedom to enjoy the outdoors with access to your own bathroom facilities, soft beds and perhaps most importantly on hot summer nights, air conditioning. Unfortunately, while it often takes both air conditioners to keep an RV comfortably cool in the summer heat, unless you use an adapter, you can generally only power one at a time. Solve this issue by connecting an adapter to run two air conditioners on your RV.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • RV with 2 air conditioners
  • Dual power adapter
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • 30-amp extension cord
  • 20/30 adapter
Step 1
Attach the dual power adapter to your generator compartment's junction box. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver.
Step 2
Plug your RV 30-amp cord into the campground 30-amp shore line.
Step 3
Plug the 20-amp campground shore line that you would not normally use into the dual power adapter's receptacle with a 30-amp extension cord and a 20/30 adapter.
Step 4
Turn on both RV air conditioners.

Tips & Warnings

If you are not using the additional 20-amp shore line, plug the pigtail connector into the dual adapter's receptacle.

Always use heavy-duty extension cords to plug into shore lines.
