How to Sell a Campground Membership

How to Sell a Campground Membership
There are a number of benefits to having a campground membership, including having a guaranteed spot to camp and access to the amenities provided by the campground such as a swimming pool or classes for the kids. When you have a problem and need some quick cash though, you might be tempted to sell your membership for a nice sum. As long as you have the permission of the campground owner, you can make money and sell your campground membership.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Contact the owner of the campground and ask about the selling policy on memberships. Some companies require that the new buyer pay a transfer fee, while others require that you sell the membership for a specific amount. You may even learn that you can't sell your campground membership.
Step 2
Make a list of the amenities and benefits of your campground membership. For example, you may have access to several campgrounds or resorts, or the campground might offer benefits such as discounts to popular attractions in the area. Give customers a reason to want your membership.
Step 3
Advertise your campground membership for sale in the local classified ads, both online and in the newspaper. Most newspapers have a timeshares or vacation section where you can list your information and those who want to buy it will find and contact you.
Step 4
List the campground membership for sale on sites with a classifieds section such as RV Property, Campgrounds Only and RV Parks Store. Read the fine print carefully before you list your property as each one has different rules. Some charge a percentage of the sale price as a fee for running and maintaining the website.
Step 5
Sell your campground membership online in a forum section by starting your own listing. RV-Coach has a large forum and message board where people can post questions and get help from other users, but there are also many classified ads listed on the site. Users can email and private message each other if they're interested in your listing.

Tips & Warnings

Keep in mind that some campgrounds have a transfer clause in their contract, which only lets a certain number of transfers happen on a piece of property. If you purchased the property and there are no more transfers left, you can't sell it.

Some campgrounds will buy back your membership to prevent you from selling it. This lets the company keep its profits up and prevent users from making money off the sale of its property.
