How to Adjust Nordic Walking Sticks

How to Adjust Nordic Walking Sticks
Nordic walking sticks are used for Nordic walking, a simple and low-stress form of fitness exercise. It is a convenient and easy workout that is also efficient. Nordic walking sticks provide extra muscle involvement, which leads to a workout with increased strength and endurance. It is important to adjust the poles to the correct length for proper use and functionality. Using Nordic poles of incorrect length can cause additional strain to the walker's body.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • Adjustable Nordic walking stick
Step 1
Hold your adjustable Nordic pole and look for its locking design. It should be a telescoping two-piece or three-piece unit with twist-locking mechanisms that you can adjust at the base of each section.
Step 2
Set the length of your Nordic stick so that when you plant it vertically on the ground, your elbow is at a 90-degree angle. Retract or elongate the bottom section to achieve the right length.
Step 3
Adjust the bottom section by twisting it counter-clockwise to loosen it so that you can increase and decrease its length to the size that you need.
Step 4
Once you have the correct length, hold it carefully and tighten the bottom section by twisting it clockwise. Twist and turn the bottom section as many times as needed until it securely locks in place.

Tips & Warnings

Make sure the pole is securely locked in place at the correct length.

If the pole is set to the incorrect length, the benefits of Nordic walking are diminished and additional strain is added to your body.
