How to Master Reset a Garmin Nuvi 750

GPS units are almost commonplace in many automobiles as well as among campers. From sophisticated handheld models to removable dash mount units for cars, GPS units are manufactured by many different companies and in various forms. One highly popular unit is the Garmin Nuvi 750. As with all GPS units, there may be a need to completely reset the 750, thus deleting all saved information and restoring the original settings.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1

Turn the power to the Nuvi 750 completely off. Do not attempt to reset the unit with the power on.

Step 2

Depress the button in the right bottom corner and hold down for several seconds. If the button is simply depressed and released, the reset process will not be initiated.

Step 3

Turn the power back on by depressing the power button as normal.

Step 4

The Nuvi 750 will display a prompt asking the user if all saved custom data and settings should be deleted. Select yes, as this is a fail safe display to ensure data is not accidentally erased.

Step 5

Ensure the following screen indicates that all original settings have been restored. If this message does not display, turn the unit off and begin the process again.

Refer to the owners manual for more extensive instructions on resetting the Nuvi 750.

Failure to power down the unit could potentially cause damage to the unit which could affect the operation and reliability.
