How to Get Freebies in Las Vegas

How to Get Freebies in Las Vegas
Take a respite from outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, golfing and sporting in order to enjoy a few hours of gambling, entertainment and dining in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is known for the many freebies and comps that can be obtained from casinos, local magazines and travel agents.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:
  • American Casino Guide Players Club Card
  • American Casino Guide
  • Players Club Card
Step 1
Do your research. Search for Las Vegas hotel promotional codes online. Promotional codes are available for online hotel, car rental and air ticket promotions. Codes feature freebies and other comps.
Step 2
Use the American Casino Guide, which offers 140 pages of free and discount coupons. Other magazines include "Showbiz," "What's On" and "24/7." The American Casino Guide can be ordered online (charges apply).
Step 3
Ask about Las Vegas hotel giveaways. For example, as of November 2009, the Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas Promo Codes offers a $25 dining credit. All promotions and giveaways are subject to change, so ask in advance about restrictions and deadlines.
Step 4
Obtain the name of the pit boss at the casino. This person has the authority to grant comps and other freebies. Use strategies like playing hands of $50 so you stand out as a serious gambler. Ask the pit boss to comp your room or provide dining and drink cards for you and your party.
Step 5
Visit the Players Club window and sign up for a Players Club Card. Complete the application with your name, date of birth and mailing address. By signing the application, you authorize the casino to send you special offers; some casinos offer an opt-out clause. Provide your ID and receive your Players Club Card. Ask about instant sign-up freebies and other comps. Club benefits include meal and drink credits, free and discount coupons and extra nights at hotels. See "Resources" below for a complete list of participating Las Vegas casinos. This will ensure you earn freebies as you spend money.
Step 6
Use your Club Card at every gambling machine and gambling table you play at a casino. Insert your Players Club Card in the machine's card reader or hand your card to the dealer before you play a game machine or table.

Tips & Warnings

The Players Club Card allows you to earn points toward free entertainment, accommodation, dining and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages apply). In some cases, cash rebates are provided. You have to redeem the points at the casino where the points were earned by exchanging them for free gifts and promotional items. The card also allows the casinos at which you play to verify how much money you have gambled--which in turn gives you leverage to ask for additional freebies such as free accommodations. You must show your ID to redeem your Players Club Card points. Duplicate Players Club Cards are available if a card is lost.
