How to Use a Blow Dryer in the UK From the US
If you have traveled outside of North America, you have probably noticed power outlets look much different. While the U.S., Canada and Mexico use the same system, other countries use different systems. No standardized power system exists around the world. If you want to take small appliances (such as a blow dryer) to the U.K., you'll need to purchase an appropriate adapter converter. The U.S. uses either two or three flat prongs; the U.K. uses thick prongs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
  • U.S.-to-U.K. power adapter converter
  • U.S.-to-U.K. power adapter converter
Step 1
Purchase a U.S.-to-U.K. power adapter converter. These converters can be found at many department stores, airports and travel shops.
Step 2
Connect the power adapter converter to your blow dryer power cable. Make sure the connection is tight and secure.
Step 3
Plug the cord with the power adapter converter into the U.K. wall outlet and turn the dryer on.

Tips & Warnings

It's best to purchase your adapter converter before you make your trip. You may have difficulty finding the appropriate adapter in the U.K.
