How to Travel to Disney Cheap

How to Travel to Disney Cheap
Disneyland and Disney World make great destinations for a family vacation. In addition to the parks and their many attractions, Disneyland's Southern California and Disney World's Central Florida locations grant further access to plenty of outdoor activities as well. While Disney-centered vacations are rarely cheap, if you are looking to cut costs, the place to begin is with your travel expenses.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step 1
Gather as much data on airfares as you can for cross-referencing and write it all down. Start by using sites that will search multiple online travel agencies at the same time, like Kayak.com. Double-check cheap fares that interest you against what the airline itself is offering, as sometimes this is less expensive. Be sure to include both Disney parks as possibilities. For example, even if you live in Atlanta, the peculiarities of the airline industry might make flights to Los Angeles cheaper during a given week than those to Orlando, despite Orlando being much closer.
Step 2
Look at Amtrak if you live anywhere near a train station. Amtrak sometimes offers good bargains on trains, and both Orlando and Los Angeles are accessible by rail. Write this data down too.
Step 3
Determine the route for driving to the nearest of the two Disney parks and calculate the cost of doing so using the average price of gasoline and the average highway mileage of your car. Write this down too.
Step 4
Include any deals you might have access too. For example, you might plan to buy one of your airline tickets using frequent flier miles or have a cash-back reward for gas fill-ups that makes the real cost of driving lower. Factor these considerations, if any, into your estimates.
Step 5
Look at any package deals for a Disney park. Package deals can sometimes offer real steals on travel costs.
Step 6
Consider your timetable. For example, if you have only five days for the trip, you might not want to spend two of them driving. That would make flying a better choice, even if it costs more.
