How to Travel by Train From Germany to Italy

How to Travel by Train From Germany to Italy
Traveling from Germany to Italy by train couldn't be easier. Considered to be one of the best rail travel systems in the world, the European rail system makes rail travel convenient and comfortable for travelers.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Make a list of the cities you plan to visit while in Germany and Italy. List the cities in the order that you plan to visit them.
Step 2
Make a list of all the attractions you want to see in each city that you listed. Use this list to determine how many days and nights you want to spend in each city.
Step 3
Make your train travel arrangements. If you are traveling straight from Germany to Italy without any stops along the way, a point-to-point rail ticket should suit your needs. If you will be traveling and stopping in multiple cities on the way from Germany to Italy, consider purchasing a rail travel pass.
Step 4
Arrive at the train station a couple of hours before your train is scheduled to leave. You can pick up your train tickets or rail passes from the window attendant. If you are picking up a rail pass, remember to ask the attendant to validate it for you.
Step 5
Board the train. After you have gotten your train ticket or rail pass from the window attendant, find your seat on the train. The conductor will come around to collect your train ticket or punch your rail pass.

Tips & Warnings

If you plan to travel through European countries by rail on a regular basis, consider purchasing a rail pass. Rail passes save travelers money and offer the additional benefit of allowing the holders to jump to the front of the line.
