Operating Instructions for a Series 700 Hummingbird Fish Finder
The Hummingbird Series 700 fish finder is a sonar system that uses a dual beam transducer to accurately show bottom contour along with any fish present. When used with the "WideSide" transducer, the Series 700 allows the operator to view objects on either side of the boat. The side view gives anglers a good idea of what the bottom looks like and if any fish are in the area. Using this high-tech sonar can give the angler a big advantage when trying to locate and catch fish.

Operating Instructions for a Series 700 Hummingbird Fish Finder

Things You’ll Need:
  • Hummingbird Series 700 fish finder
Step 1
Power up your Series 700 fish finder by depressing the "Power/Light" key. The unit will choose the "Normal" operation mode if installed in your boat. If not hooked up to a transducer, the unit will default to the "Simulator" mode, which will allow the user to become familiar with the unit's operation.
Step 2
Choosing the "Normal" operation mode uses factory set defaults that allow some control over the settings. This mode allows you to quickly use the unit's sonar functions without making in-depth setting changes. Use the "Normal" setting for typical fishing scenarios.
Step 3
Press the "View" button while in "Normal" mode to cycle through the different sonar modes. There are seven different options on this menu, from standard sonar all the way to side-looking sonar.
Step 4
Press the "Menu" key while the unit is powering-up to access the "Menu" system. This option allows in-depth control of all of the unit's controls and sensitivities. Use the "Menu" option when you encounter situations where the factory default settings are not accurate.
Step 5
For example, you may wish to decrease the clutter if you are in murky water. Access the "Menu" option and choose "Sensitivity" option. The sensitivity can then be raised or lowered. Restarting the unit will override your adjustment and return back to the factory defaults.

Tips & Warnings

Practice with the "Simulator" mode and the operating manual while at the dock to become familiar with the settings.
