How to Get Cheap Flight Tickets to Nepal

How to Get Cheap Flight Tickets to Nepal
Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and home to the only airport in that country that services international flights. Airfares to this beautiful landlocked place can be quite costly from Europe and North America (from around $1,000-plus round-trip). High ticket prices can be a deterrent to some travelers, but with a few tips and a bit of determination, cheaper ticket prices can be found.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step 1
Purchase tickets three to six months in advance. The earlier you purchase your tickets, especially during peak travel periods, the better. Airlines generally raise their rates in steps starting 21 days before the departure date. However, some airlines will offer last-minute deals through newsletters or online notices, especially if the airline has failed to fully book the flight.
Step 2
Fly during the low season. Ticket prices to Nepal tend to be at their highest during the summer months and holidays, with rates generally decreasing in the months of January to May. You can usually find the lowest rates from December to February, when the number of visitors to Nepal drops due to the cold winters.
Step 3
Fly mid-week. The busiest days of the week to fly are Mondays and Fridays, due to business travelers and weekend travelers. Fares are usually discounted for flights booked for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday travel.
Step 4
Book flights through large cities instead of flying direct. Large cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, and New Delhi have more flights and airline prices are competitive. Since more flights are available, you are more likely to find flexibility in flight times.
Step 5
Shop around. Compare rates through different websites and travel agents. Try different travel days, departure times and connections. Check discount airlines and budget travel sites and fly lesser-known carriers whenever possible.
Step 6
Consider package deals. Many good deals can be found by purchasing airfare, hotel and car rentals together. Be sure to inquire about these package deals whether you are booking through a travel agent or using an online travel website.
Step 7
Use frequent flier miles, air miles and discount clubs. Cash in any discounts through clubs and organizations you may belong to. Some airlines will offer discounts for seniors and children.
