Las Vegas is one of America's most popular destinations, operating 365 days a year for 24 hours a day. Though famous for its sinful brand of adult entertainment, Las Vegas offers unlimited activities for every kind of visitor including the outdoor enthusiast and the budget-conscious traveler. Las Vegas deals, discounts and freebies can often be found just by knowing the right places to look. There's a rumor that what happens there, stays there...but with a few helpful hints, you won't have to leave your life savings to experience an exciting Las Vegas vacation.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step 1
Research Las Vegas room rates to familiarize yourself with the price range. Las Vegas prices vary depending on hotel class, years of operation, size and location. An older, smaller hotel, or an off-Strip hotel---not located on Las Vegas Boulevard---will normally offer significantly lower rates than one of the newer, bigger resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.
Step 2
Sign up online to receive email newsletters from Las Vegas hotels and the airlines that service Las Vegas from your hometown. Email subscribers are often the first to know when Las Vegas hotels and airlines offer deals and discounts.
Step 3
Ask your hotel booking agent about entertainment and dining specials for hotel guests. Some Las Vegas hotels offer dinner and a show for a reduced package price.
Step 4
Join the players' club at your Las Vegas hotel. New players' club members often receive credits for free casino play, souvenirs, special offers by mail and discounts on entertainment and dining. Show your players' club card in the casino; Las Vegas casinos will sometimes issue "comps"---free meals, nightclub passes, show tickets or even rooms---to their players, depending on how much money the player has wagered and the duration of their play.
Step 5
Use coupons. Free tourist magazines are a staple of almost every Las Vegas hotel room and contain a variety of discounts on show tickets, dining and Las Vegas attractions. Free tourist magazines are also available at Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport and in the back of many Las Vegas taxicabs.
Step 6
Do your finest dining during the day. Many of Las Vegas' upscale restaurants offer a lunch version of their dinner menu with culinary delights at a reduced price. Las Vegas buffets are also cheaper at lunch.
Step 7
Enjoy the outdoors. Las Vegas is only a short driving distance from a variety of recreational wonders including the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead. Grand Canyon National Park offers a vehicle permit, good for seven days at both the North Rim and South Rim, for $25 inclusive of all passengers, as of October 2009. Lake Mead Recreation Area welcomes visitors for a $5 vehicle charge, inclusive of all passengers, with a campsite fee of $10, as of October 2009. Hiking is free at nearby Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston, a 7,717 foot peak overlooking the Las Vegas Valley.
Step 8
Get free Las Vegas entertainment by walking on the Las Vegas Strip. You can get see the Bellagio Fountains, the Mirage volcano eruption and Polynesian performances at the Hawaiian Marketplace. Take a quick cab ride to the famous Fremont Street Experience, a unique pedestrian streetscape featuring live action stunt performances, open air concerts and dazzling light shows on an overhead canopy stretching the length of five football fields. See a lounge performance right in your Las Vegas hotel and enjoy a night of free music and dancing.

Tips & Warnings

Book your Las Vegas vacation during the week if possible. Las Vegas hotel rooms are usually cheaper on weekdays, Sunday-Thursday.
