How to Purchase First Class Tickets Cheaply

How to Purchase First Class Tickets Cheaply

Akin Hos/sxc.hu

Many people love to fly. However, many more people might enjoy flying if they were seated in the first class. With more leg room and personal service, who wouldn't want to travel in first class? The problem is that few of us are willing to pay for first class tickets when an economy ticket will suffice. However, getting first class service and seats at a cheap price is possible if you know where to start.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Purchase an upgrade. Many airlines offer standby upgrades. These upgrades typically allow you to upgrade your coach ticket the day before your flight. Most airlines offer reasonably priced upgrades this way.
Step 2
Check your airline. Just as each airline offers different prices for their economy seats, each airline also offers different prices for their first class seats. If you want to sit in the lap of luxury without paying a bundle, check which airlines offer the cheapest first class tickets.
Step 3
Purchase full fare economy tickets. The most expensive economy tickets have a much higher chance of being upgraded to first class. Ask your airline their policies on upgrades for full fare tickets.
Step 4
Use your frequent flier miles. If you fly a lot and happen to use frequent flier miles, you may be able to use your frequent flier miles to upgrade to a first class seat. However, not all economy tickets, like those that are offered at a large discount, can be upgraded. Before you get your hopes up, ask what it will take for you to upgrade your flight with your frequent flier miles.
