How to Find Cheap Tickets

How to Find Cheap Tickets

Keith Syvinski/sxc.hu

In today's economy, families are finding it more and more difficult to make ends meet. For some families, tough times mean cutting back on the things that they enjoy most, such as concerts, amusement parks, zoos and other attraction that they used to enjoy. But with a little resourcefulness, cheap tickets can be found that don't have to bust the family budget. A quick computer search can bring up the phone numbers and addresses for local agencies that may be able to help you find the cheap tickets that you are looking for.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step 1
Check out your local township or county clerk's office for cheap tickets. Local municipalities sometimes partner with companies in the area as a courteous initiative to boost business. If you will be traveling to a destination outside of your local area, check with the local offices that support that support the businesses within that county or jurisdiction. Many of these agencies not only offer tickets at a discounted rate but also offer coupons that you can use for a reduced admission at the gate.
Step 2
Try the Chamber of Commerce. Your local Chamber of Commerce or the one in the city that you are traveling to is all about supporting businesses. Here you will be able to find information on the things that you want to see and do, along with cheap tickets and discount coupons that can help reduce ticket prices.
Step 3
Check out the website that is associated with the event or tourist attraction that you want to go to. Many times, if you sign up for the company newsletter or become a member, you can receive cheap discount ticket pricing or coupons that can be printed out and used when you purchase the tickets.
Step 4
Surf the Internet and visit your local classified listings (see Resources). Sometimes people list cheap tickets on the web that they cannot use. This can mean cheap tickets for you, especially if the seller is simply looking to make a quick buck.
Step 5
Take a drive to your favorite fast food restaurants and see what kind of cheap ticket deals they have to offer. Fast food chains often partner with local tourist destinations in the area and may offer cheap tickets or discounts to these locations throughout the year. A quick chat with the manager or one of the employees at the fast food restaurant can help you find out what events or tourist spots the chain is sponsoring.

Tips & Warnings

Sometimes people have tickets that they received as a gift or through their workplace that are not for resale. You may be able to get these tickets for free. You can place an ad on a website like Freecycle.org stating what type of ticket you are looking for. The right person may just read your ad (see Resources).

When you purchase cheap tickets privately or through an online ad, make sure that you check that the tickets are still valid. Some tickets have a barcode and phone number that you can call to check on the ticket's authenticity. A trustworthy seller will be more than happy to give you this information before you purchase the tickets. Think twice about buying the tickets if the seller declines to give you the information.
