Rossignol Ski Boot Review

Rossignol Ski Boot Review

What To Look For

Rossingol makes a wide variety of ski boots in race, all-mountain, free ride and freestyle categories. For many of their boots, they offer the same model in different flexes. For instance, the World Cup Radical, the Rossignol race boot, is offered in a 100 and a 120 flex. In the all-mountain category, Rossingol offers the Zenith Sensor3, which melds the performance of their racing boots with a less aggressive fit, in flexes of 100, 110 and 120; the Synergy Sensor in flexes of 80, 90 and 100; and the Exalt in flexes of 60, 70 and 80. The free ride boot is the B-Squad, offered in flexes of 100, 110 and 130. The freestyle boots are the SAS, SAS FS1, SAS FS2, SAS Sensor3 110 and SAS Pro 120 BC, which has a Vibram sole for skiers who hike through the backcountry to get turns.

For women, Rossignol offers the same race boots. The all-mountain category offers the Electra, Vita, and Xena, all in three flexes each. The only free-ski boot Rossignol offers for women is the Myth Sensor3 in a 90 flex.

Rossignol also offers several boots for boys and girl.

The Sensor3 technology dominates Rossignol's boot lines. It uses an anatomical bootboard to get contact between the liner boot, the shell and three points on the boot to get the best power and control from your skiing.

Common Pitfalls

Too many skiers think buying the stiffest boot will improve their performance. But if you get a boot that is too stiff and don't ski hard and fast enough to demand that level of performance, you'll struggle and won't be able to exert the necessary force on the boot for turns.

Demo boots extensively before buying one, and try the different flexes to find the best fit for your skiing style.

Where To Buy

Rossignol boots are carried at most ski retail shops. The Rossignol website has a dealer locator. Rossignol boots are also available online, but it's best to buy ski boots locally so you can get the best fit.

Cost

Rossignol ski boots are priced between $250 and $600.

Insider Tips

Get a pair of custom insoles made for your feet and use them in the liner boots. These insoles align your foot properly and enable better skiing, as well as keep your foot warmer.
