Energy bars are referred to as dietary supplements that people eat to maintain calories and energy during strenuous activities or when the body needs stamina. Using complex carbohydrates and protein to create instant fuel, energy bars are non perishable and easy to grab when on the go or when there is no other food source readily available.

Who uses energy bars?

Athletes, teens, outdoorsman and busy adults often use energy bars as meal supplements or to provide endurance during a workout or strenuous activity. Undernourished or elderly persons may also use energy bars to gain or maintain their weight and provide energy to get through the day.

Why are they used?

Energy bars are mainly used as a source of food fuel that after eaten provide a burst of energy the body can use to get through strenuous exercise or physical activity.

When are they used?

Energy bars are sometimes used as a snack to enforce energy and stamina in between meal breaks. They can also be to supplement full meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Some of the main ingredients in energy bars are rice, oats, milk protein, peanut butter, calcium phosphate, zinc gluconate and magnesium carbonate. Some include dark chocolate chips and dried berries as a tasty incentive for consumers.

Calories and Nutrition

While exact nutritional values vary slightly, on average most energy bars contain around 230 calories, 45 grams of carbohydrate, 2 grams of fat, 3 grams of dietary fiber and 10 grams of protein per serving, per 8 ounce bar.
