Jamaicans have ancestors from Europe, Africa and Asia, and the island is a multifaceted blend of traditions and people. The national motto for Jamaica is, "Out of Many, One People."

Jamaica is the largest island in the Caribbean, boasting 4,442 square miles.

Language

The official language of Jamaica is English. However, you may need to keep your ears peeled because Jamaicans have a distinct dialect.

Currency

Commercial banks are accessible in resort areas. Most Jamaican ATMs will also accept international bank cards.

Climate

The average temperatures in Jamaica range from 66 to 99 degrees F. There are two rainy seasons from May to June and from September to November.
