Frame
A typical men's bike-frame style one sees marketed in shops as a men's or unisex bike--with a horizontal crossbar between seat post and handlebar stem--is properly known as a diamond frame bike.
Size
Men's bikes tend to be larger than women's bikes because men's legs are often longer than women's.
Clearance
Select the proper size men's bike frame by checking for clearance between your crotch and the horizontal crossbar. Clearance should be an inch or two for a road bike and about four inches for a mountain bike.
Seating
Men's bicycle seats typically are a bit longer and more narrow than seats for women. Some seats feature cutouts or molded channels to reduce pressure on delicate portions of one's anatomy and combat "male numbness."
Trivia
The modern-day men's bicycle evolved out of a two-wheeled device known as the draisine, created in 1817. One propelled the draisine by pushing one's feet against the ground.
