On What Mountain Is Wolf Laurel Ski Resort?

Wolf Laurel Ski Resort, also called The Wolf, is on Bald Mountain in North Carolina. The resort is part of the Appalachian Mountain chain, near the Appalachian Trail, and near the state's border with Tennessee.

Geography

Wolf Laurel is a small community between the towns of Mars Hill and Burnsville, N.C. The resort is on the edge of the Cherokee National Forest, most of which is in Tennessee. It is near the Pisgah National Forest. Wolf Laurel Ski Resort is two miles from the Tennessee state line.

Considerations

In 2010, Wolf Laurel was the newest of the ski areas in the mountains of North Carolina. The owners continue to add more lifts and ski areas. This resort is not well known yet, so you might not face heavy crowds while skiing there. The resort also has trails as well as snowboarding areas.

Features

The top of Bald Mountain is 4,700 feet. Some of the slopes go 700 feet to the bottom. The slopes are for beginner to intermediate skiers, though advanced skiers also can enjoy the slopes.

Summer

The Appalachian Trail is nearby, and there are many other trails in the area. The resort has trails that are used by skiers in winter and hikers in summer. Horseback riding is also popular in summer.
