Trailer Tires
Inflation pressure, measured at pounds per square inch or PSI, is not a set number for trailer tires. Tire size and tire load limits affect the amount of air required for each tire. Use a load/inflation chart to determine the amount of air for each tire. According to the Goodyear website, inflate each tire to accommodate the maximum tire load.
Trailer Loads
Loads are often distributed unevenly throughout the trailer, causing each tire to support a different amount of weight. This will affect the inflation level for each tire. Air up each tire based on its load, keeping tires on the same axle at the same PSI.
Checking Trailer Tires
With an accurate tire pressure gauge, check the air pressure in all tires, even the inside dually tires, when they are cold. Measure the PSI before each trip, as well as throughout the trip when there has been a drastic change in temperature or altitude.
