Gonzales, Louisiana RV Parks

The small town of Gonzales, Louisiana, 30 minutes southeast of Baton Rouge, is rich with history and one signature dish. Known as the "Jambalaya Capital of the World," according to the City of Gonzales website, RV travelers can stay at a campground right in town.

In-Town Camping

In addition to the horse arena, gym and exhibition centers, the Lamar Dixon Expo Center also provides 300 RV campsites. Full hookups and showers are included at the basic campsites.



At the Vesta Mobile Home and RV Park, guests can choose from a wooded or a non-wooded lot, all with concrete pads and full hookups.

Gonzalez Activities

Best known for its jambalaya, each year the city celebrates this dish during a Memorial Day festival.



For nearby outdoor adventure, explore the cypress tupelo swamp at Maurepas Swamp Wildlife Management Area. Home to deer, freshwater fish and bald eagles, this reserve is best explored by boat.

Camping Climate

With approximately 90 percent humidity in the daytime year around, the best camping weather for Gonzales comes in the fall and spring. Bring rain gear for outdoor activities. According to the City of Gonzales website, the area receives 62.9 inches of rain each year.
